Properties and valuables have reportedly been lost to the continued heavy downpour in the city of Port Harcourt today, September 21, 2021.
Residents of D/Line Port Harcourt, Rivers State today, woke up to a devastating moment as almost all their properties were destroyed by the heavy flood that has taken over the area early hours of today.
A major victim of the flood who live at No 10, Ovunwo street, D/Line Port Harcourt who spoke with Olainfo, laments the huge damage the Tuesday heavy downpour has cost her and family.
In her statement, Miss. Ikono Ima-obong who hails from Akwa Ibom State told Olainfo that all her properties and valuables have been destroyed, noting that she and her family are now homeless today as flood has taken over her apartment.

She is heard in the video lamenting on the havoc the downpour has cost due to a poorly planned structure, adding that her landlord is always after money and doesn’t care about the safety of his house and occupants.
As the downpour continue to deepen, Residents are seen outside the streets roaming inside the flood with no where to live as their apartments have also been taken over by flood.
From our findings, Olainfo has learnt that the heavy water was said to have gushed out of the drainage which was blocked due to the construction of flyovers by Rivers State government around the area.
There are drainages from D/Line and other places that go through Waterlines, where the flyover is being sited along Port Harcourt – Aba road. During the heavy downpour, the blocked drainage by Julius Berger seems to have forced the water to flow through the channel that leads to D/Line where it gushed out and sacked the entire community.
Miss Ikono who reported the story to Olainfo is however pleading with the government of Rivers State and concerned Nigerians to come to her rescue and family as she’s got nothing to hold on.
