VIDEO: Trucks Transporting Food Items From North to The South Ordered to Turn Back in Niger State Amid Dealers Strike – Olainfo

Following the planned strike by foods stuffs dealers from the Northern part of Nigeria to stop the supply of essential food items to the South, a video has surfaced online showing numbers of trucks loaded with food items transporting from the North to the South being stopped by some suspected youths of Niger State who were assigned to enforce the strike.

It was recently reported that cattle and food stuff dealers in the country under the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCD) an affiliate of NLC had requested for N475 billion compensation from the federal government over their members and properties being lost to #EndSARS protest and Shasha market crisis.

The union had given the government 7days ultimatum to reach their demand otherwise they’ll embark on nationwide strike and stop supply of cattles and food stuffs from the North to the south. The ultimatum, elapsed yesterday, 25/02/2021 and the strike commenced immediately with full enforcement.

However, From the man in the video who captured the scene, he said the trucks were stopped at Jebba community which shares boundary with Kwara and Niger States. He said the truck drivers were asked to turn back to the North or risk the contents being discharged. Watch below 👇
