The Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari has again slammed critics of APC and Buhari-led administration as he claims, the security situation that has been claiming lives in Nigeria has drastically improved under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He disclosed this during a live programme, ‘Politics Today’ where he was featured on Channels Television. Masari claimed that since Buhari came to power in 2015, the rate of insecurity has been reduced to an applaudable extent.
Masari who’s the current Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum however, slammed people who have been scoring the president low on insecurity as he noted that, the country is economically attractive to kidnappers in the Sahel region of Africa.
Countries like Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan and Eritrea are in the Sahel region of Africa.

While defending the Buhari-led government, Masari took a flashback to the situation of insecurity in 2015 before Buhari assumed office. He said there tensions everywhere in the North as people could not go about their daily activities due to fear of terrorists. Travelling from Kaduna to Abuja then always take 5 hours which three of those hours were for checkpoints, there were at least 30 checkpoints, he said.
Masari claimed that, the situation now is not the to compare to situation under the past administration. He said the position of Nigeria being the richest country amongst the countries in the Sahel region has made it so attractive to Kidnappers. if you Kidnapped somebody in Mali, where are you going to get thousands to receive as ransom? if I Kidnap you in Nigeria, I get millions, he said.
He therefore, urged the citizen to rise and work together as nation in defeating insecurity. According to the governor; It’s a collective efforts if we really want to defeat insecurity, we must work hard to stop r*ape, banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling in our land.
