The late Dora Akunyili’s husband, Dr. Chike Akunyili was allegedly killed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

Late Dora Akunyili was a former Minister of Information and Ex-Director of National Agency fot Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC.

According to Punch Newspaper, the widower was on his way from Onitsha where he had gone to claim a posthumous award of excellence on behalf of his late wife when he met the gunmen and who shot and killed him.

According to Punch Newspaper, Dr. Chike was on a trip from Onitsha where he had gone on behalf of his late wife to obtain a honourary award of excellence before he ran into the hands of the hoodlums and was shot dead.

Several news sources have linked Fulani herdsmen to his death while some said IPOB militia was responsible for his murder. Howbeit, Olainfo has not verified the authenticity of their claims.
