An Indigenous online publication, Nnewi City has taken to their Twitter page to share the destruction of Timber Market Nnewi as perpetrated by Nigeria Police men.
According to the source, the officers were at the Timber market yesterday, Feb 17, 2021 in search of Indian hemp smokers in a valley behind the market.
After a failed attempt, the security operatives allegedly set fire around the market which eventually went out of control as the fire extended to the plank stores and burnt investment worth millions of naira.

They managed to escape after a reprisal attack from the traders. The officers reportedly left one of their patrol vans to escape jungle justice from the traders.
Reports circulating this morning have confirmed that, the fire is still burning and extending its coverage as the traders all gather to control it.
The aggrieved traders have expressed anger and plan to stage a mass protest against Nigeria Police Force.
