As residents of Anambra state set for the governorahip election today, November 6, 2021, thousands of security operatives have been deployed to maintain and ensure a peaceful exercise.
Vanguard reports that election won’t hold in 86 polling units of the state. According to the report, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said that electoral materials won’t be deployed in those affected units because there no record of registered voters.
Anambra has 21 Local Government areas and 4,608 polling units which was later increased to 5,720 by INEC according to Business Day.
However, election won’t hold in 86 of these units due to failure of voters to register according to Mahmood’s claim.
Recall that, IPOB has also canceled the sit at home order, compelling residents to boycott today’s poll in Anambra state over the continued detention of the secessionist leader, Nnamdi Kanu who was extradited to Nigeria few months ago.
