Arsenal’s victory against West Brom on Tuesday will however relieve Mikel Arteta of the rising pressure before their next game with Manchester City.
Arteta has been under pressure and threat to forfeit his job due to his weak and unproductive tactics that have earned the team back to back loss since the start of the season.
Following the victory of the Gunners, a former player of the club, Jack Wilshere has reacted to the development as he commended the team and manager, Mikel Arteta.
He revealed that the Spaniard is the only man for the job who can lead Arsenal to glory but admitted it will take several years to achieve. He made this known during a discussion with David Ornstein where he also urged the North London club not to sack Arteta.
According to him: “It upsets me to see where they are. One thing I will say is that I do think Arteta is the right guy.
“Obviously, I see the news, stuff on social media. Some people want him out. I think he’s trying to build something, and I think it will take time.
“These players need a few years. The difference is, I came into a team of world-class players, and they really helped me.
“Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Samir Nasri, they were all brilliant, and I could learn from them.
“That’s why it’s going to take a bit more time because there is more responsibility on these young players.
“There’s a good group of young players, which I feel is probably the best since me, Aaron Ramsey and Kieran Gibbs came through.”
“What hurts me the most is that when I was there, and we dropped a little bit, we still got into the Champions League [by finishing in the top four].
“Then when we dropped out of the Champions League, it felt like a massive disappointment — ‘Oh my god, we need to be in Champions League, we need to be challenging’.
“Now, they’re not even challenging for that. They’re not even challenging for a Europa League place, really.”
Reports had revealed the Arsenal board have given Arteta a grace till October to improve on performance otherwise, risk his job.
