Tim Sherwood Says Aston Villa Have an ‘Ouststanding’ Player that Made £13M Leeds Player Looks ‘Terrible’

Tim Sherwood has told PLP’s coverage of Leeds United’s 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa that Matty Cash was “outstanding” on Thursday night – and made Leeds man Junior Firpo look “terrible” on a bad night for Leeds at home.

Leeds came into the match off the back of five straight Premier League defeats – but with it being Jesse Marsch’s first match as Leeds manager at Elland Road, there was hope the American would pick up his first points.

Philippe Coutinho gave Villa the lead in the first half, as his shot deflected past Illan Meslier. A second came through Cash, who instantly controlled a delightful pass before cutting inside and thrashing an effort under Meslier.

Calum Chambers scored the pick of the goals, curling an effort into the top corner after neat work from Tyrone Mings. Sherwood raved about Cash, saying Steven Gerrard will be delighted after making Firpo look “terrible”.

“He’s been outstanding. Shows composure there, but Firpo was terrible. Cuts inside, hits it, he’s come up with some important goals. Gerrard will be delighted with him, he gives him some real energy, thrust down that side.”

It was the tale of two full-backs on Thursday night. Cash, who has changed his nationality to Poland, is in the form of his career at the moment. He has now had a hand in six goals during his 27 Premier League appearances.

Firpo, meanwhile, has failed to prove why Leeds spent £13million (GOAL) to sign him in the summer from Barcelona. He suffered an injury, which Marsch said might his MCL, against Villa. He could be out for some time.
