West Ham will keep David Moyes despite Man United approach – Frank McAvennie
David Moyes has been working wonders at West Ham over the past two seasons and he is starting to gain interest from other Premier League clubs.
The Scot was the subject of an approach from Manchester United to be their new manager recently but the Hammers board rejected any talks over his position.
With the team vying for Champions League football in both domestic and continental competitions, Moyes’ job is possibly one of the safest in the entire Premier League.
Frank McAvennie, an ex-Irons striker, does not believe that the manager will quit his role at the London Stadium to return to Old Trafford, where he was ousted in 2014 after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson.
“Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world,” McAvennie said to West Ham Zone. “They’ve lost their way a bit recently.
“I think they should have kept David Moyes a bit longer and I hate to see it because he could have been the right manager for the job if they gave him enough time.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back because he was sacked by West Ham and came back but I think he’s enjoying the journey West Ham are on at the moment.”
Moyes’ side won 2-1 at home against Frank Lampard’s Everton Sunday, extending their winning streak to three games.
They will now face Lyon in a challenging two-legged battle for a place in the Europa League semi-finals, with Barcelona potentially waiting to face the winner in the last four.
