A Nollywood actress has got netizens fumed after stating that Amala is a disgusting food.
Dorcas Shola Fapson sparked outrage on social media after releasing a controversial comment, berating the popular Yoruba food.
The Nigerian actress and presenter, is known for her role in MTV’s Shuga as ‘Sophie’. In 2020, she returned to the MTV Shuga series as it dealt with coronavirus issues, with the actors doing the filming, over several African countries.
Amala is one of Yoruba native delicacies made out of unripe plantain or cassava floor.
Yam and plantain are peeled, sliced, cleaned, dried and then blended into flour, also called èlùbọ́. They are white in colour but turn brown when dried. This gives àmàlà its colour.
Dorcas Fapson took to her Instagram account @ms_dsf on Saturday, 15 to berate the Yoruba heritage which is now making the rounds.
On her story, Dorcas wrote:

While reacting to her statement, netizens fumed at the actress, noting that, not familiar or in love with Amala doesn’t warrant her to berate people’s tribal food.
