For Every #OccupyLekkiTollgate, There’s a Corresponding #DefendLagos – Renowned Journalist

As reports of the new planned #EndSARS protest is making round the internet, so as anti #EndSARS protesters are planning to demonstrate slated to hold on the 13th of February 2021, same date with the renewed protest.

We could how the#EndSARS peaceful protesters were massacred by the Nigeria force at Lekki Tollgate in October 2020. The protesters who took to the streets and cities of Nigeria armlessly to protest against police brutality and poor governance were allegedly attacked by Nigeria Army killing several demonstrators and leaving scores wounded.

The new proposed#EndSARS protest was triggered following the order of the Lagos Judicial panel of Inquiry to reopen Lekki Tollgate after several months of shut down. The Tollgate was shut down after the massacre of armless protesters that arosed International condemnation in October 2020.

The case had long been with the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry to investigate and deliver judgment regarding human rights violation by government. The panel has recently order the reopening of the gate when Justice has not prevailed which is now trailing reactions from Nigerians.

The order of the panel has triggered Nigerians to organize another EndSARS protest which they tagged as #OccupyLekkiTollgate in Lagos will will hold on 13 of this month. Shortly after the report of the renewed EndSARS protest, a pro government individuals are also planning to demonstrate a counter-protest against the #OccupyLekkiTollgate protest slated to hold on the same day and is tagged#DefendLagos.

However, a renowned investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo has reacted to the trending planned protests making round social media. He described the planned protests as battle against oppression summarized in two hashtags. Read below his tweet
