There have been rumours about Hushpuppy being released which has been trending on Twitter lately.

There was also a report that the cyber fraudster had died which made the rounds on Wednesday 23, 2022.

Nigerian fraudster Ramon Olorunwa Abbas popularly known as Hushpuppy, was arrested in Dubai over Dh1.6 billion (about N169 billion) fraud involving over 1.9 million victims.

US law firm of about $40 million, illegally transferred $14.7 million from a foreign financial institution, and targeted to steal $124 million from an English football club until his arrest by the Dubai Police in June 2020.

He was arrested alongside Olalekan Jacob Ponle, also known as Woodberry and 10 others e-police unit of the Dubai Police.

Over 13 luxury cars worth N2. 640 billion (Dh 25 million), 21 laptops, 47 smartphones, 15 memory storage devices, 5 external hard drives and 800, 000 emails of potential victims were also recovered from the gang.

The genius scammer and his gang were later extradited to the US through a formal application by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI.

FBI’s application to extradite Hushpuppy was given swift consideration by the UAE government most of the over 1.9 million people defrauded by the Nigerian fraudster and his gang were Americans.

In January 2022, report from the United States Attorney’s Office at the Central District of California had it that Ramon Abbas would be sentenced on Valentine’s day, February 14, 2022 but later postponed by five months.

However, regarding the death rumour of the billionaire Instagram celebrity peddling around the sphere of social media on Wednesday, the news allegedly emanated from a self-acclaimed investigative journalist named Kemi Olunloyo.

There were reports on several Nigerian blogs that Hushpuppy died which Kemi was alleged to have been the purveyor of such sh0cking news.

According to a source, the journalist hinted that, “The Boy” (as she often calls Hushpuppy) died in US police custody.

However, Kemi has taken to her Twitter account again on Wednesday night to address the trending death rumour of Abbas by Nigerian bloggers.

In her latest tweet, Kemi denied ever announcing that, Hushpuppy died in the US. She however urged Nigerians to disregard the report, noting that it is a fake news being peddled by some low budget bloggers.
