Everton Boss, Frank Lampard Drops Fitness Update Ahead of Leicester Game

According to Everton manager Frank Lampard, Richarlison will ‘hopefully’ be fit to face Leicester City in the Premier League this afternoon.

The 43-year-old was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:  “Yeah, Richy’s got a bit of a sore ankle from the one he twisted at Liverpool. That’s sort of been around since then, but hopefully will be fine.”

The Brazilian scored the game-winning goal against Chelsea last weekend and has been pivotal in Liverpool’s recent survival push.

With five games remaining with Everton still in the relegation zone, the 24-year-ol availability for the rest of the season is critical.

Two points adrift of safety, the Toffees will need as many players available as possible in the final weeks of the season to keep their Premier League status and avoid relegation for the first time.

Richarlison, in particular, has scored eight goals and added four assists in the league this season, making him the Toffees’ top scorer.

Half of those goals have come in Everton’s last five matches, emphasizing the 24-year-old importance to the cause.

Due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s absence for the most part of the season, the Brazilian has stepped up during Everton’s poor season, and he will be a significant catalyst if the Merseyside club survives.

Richarlison’s availability would also be a significant boost given Everton’s poor away form in 2021/22, with the Toffees picking up just six points away from Goodison Park since August.

After tumbling out of Europe on Thursday night, the Foxes will be looking to finish in the top half of the table, which might be a difficult challenge for Lampard’s side.

Richarlsion’s potential availability, on the other hand, will definitely excite the Everton manager.
