Digne, Luiz, Chambers – Aston Villa injury latest as Steven Gerrard dealt blow for Arsenal

Olainfo brings you latest Aston Villa injury news as Steven Gerrard speaks about his side’s injury situation ahead of the Premier League clash with Arsenal on Saturday.

Aston Villa will meet Arsenal at Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime in the Premier League (12.30pm).

When Steven Gerrard’s Villa fell 2-1 to West Ham United at the London Stadium last Saturday, their winning streak came to a stop. Villa had beaten Brighton and Hove Albion, Southampton and Leeds United in the run up to Sunday’s game but David Moyes’ side brought them back down to earth.

Villa were forced to replace Lucas Digne for Ashley Young ten minutes into the encounter at West Ham due to a hamstring injury. When Douglas Luiz received a boot to the face, he felt the impact of a physical clash, and Calum Chambers is scheduled to be checked on with a similar injury.

“He says it is a small muscle injury,” Gerrard said of Digne.

“We will analyse it with an MRI scan. I am positive in what Lucas has said to me but he is obviously a major doubt for the Arsenal game.

“Elsewhere, Calum is in a similar situation to Dougie off a forearm smash. There are a lot of ice packs about as well. It goes to show it was a tough physical game.”
