Alao-Akala was a former Police officer and former governor of Oyo state who reigned between 2007 and 2011.
He was a deputy governor to former governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja who reigned between 2003 and 2006.
Alao-Akala became an acting governor for eleven months after his boss, Ladoja was impeached before he was fully elected in 2007.

Alao-Akala started his political career as a member of New Dimension. He participated in the zero-party local government election of 1996 and later co-founded the UNP before its fusion with UNC to form UNCP.
He contested for the chairmanship seat in Ogbomoso North and won under the APP platform in 1998. He reigned from 1999 to 2002.
Alao-Akala founded the Ogbomoso Unity Forum, a political association which later joined the PDP. He was the Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government from 1999 to 2002.
Otunba Alao-Akala served as the deputy governor to former governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja who reigned between 2003 and 2006.
He was later sworn in as acting governor after Ladoja was impeached from his seat in 2006 and reigned for eleven months.
